
Their rivalry is friendly but fierce, and this week the girls get the edge in spring sports at Maricopa High, according to MaxPreps — but it’s close.
The Lady Rams’ softball team (18-4) has cracked the state top 20 in the Class 6A conference. MaxPreps has them ranked 19th.
The Rams’ baseball team (8-3), hoping to end a lengthy playoff drought, cracked the MaxPreps top 25 in 6A, ranking 24th.
“The softball team, those girls are always competing with us, talking trash to us,” said Dante Westmiller, a co-captain of the baseball team.
The softball team, on a six-game winning streak, has home games in the coming week on Tuesday vs. Laveen Cesar Chavez (6-8) and the following week on April 4 vs. Avondale West Point (7-7). First pitch for both games is 3:45 p.m.
