A popular Maricopa restaurant immediately closed Friday after learning an employee tested positive for coronavirus.

A staffer at Native Grill & Wings, who last worked on Tuesday, Nov. 3, is in quarantine and recovering, according to a statement published Friday morning on Facebook.

“The health and safety of our guests and employees is always our number one priority,” the statement said. “With that, we feel it is important to share that on November 6, we were notified that an employee at this location tested positive for COVID-19 … The restaurant is closed until further notice and will undergo an extensive sanitation and deep cleaning prior to reopening for business.”

The restaurant expects to reopen Saturday, according to owner Pat Kieny.

From the beginning of the pandemic, Native noted, it has taken additional precautions to “ensure our employees and guests feel comfortable dining with us,” including operating at 50% capacity, enforcing 6 feet of social distancing, requiring temperature checks for every employee prior to their shift and face coverings for employees and guests (until they are seated and safely distanced from other patrons).
