A semitruck rollover closed State Route 238 just west of town this afternoon.

State troopers blocked off SR 238 west of North Tijeras Road. The semitruck rolled over across the roadway, blocking both directions. A large amount of garbage spilled out of the truck and filled the road.

Eastbound drivers were backed up about a mile as of 1:30 p.m. Many people were seen pulling U-turns and driving offroad to avoid the spillage.

“No injuries reported but it is blocking the roadway,” said DPS spokesperson Bart Graves. “Troopers are awaiting the arrival of a heavy-duty tow truck.”

This is a breaking story. It will be updated when more information is available.
