Have you been looking for an opportunity to make an impact in Maricopa? Do you have a passion for parks and libraries or public safety? If so, the city has an opportunity for you to serve on a committee.

The City of Maricopa is currently accepting applications for residents wishing to serve on the Parks, Recreation and Libraries committee and the Public Safety committee. Applications will be accepted through Oct. 31, 2008, for Public Safety and through Nov. 7, 2008, for Parks, Recreation and Libraries.

As a member of the Parks, Recreation and Libraries committee, you will be responsible for communicating individual and public thoughts on potential and existing programs, generating concept ideas for future parks, trails and open spaces, and planning for future library facilities and activities. l

Those serving on the Public Safety committee advise the City Council and city management regarding matters of fire and police protection, emergency medical services, traffic and pedestrian safety, emergency operations, homeland security and animal control.
