Sonoran Creek Marketplace taking shape

More tenants are being announced for the future Sonoran Creek Marketplace. Some already have locations in Maricopa.

Besides the previously announced Sprouts Farmers Market and Brake Masters, developer Thompson Thrift’s latest map shows Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches sharing a detached building with Filiberto’s Mexican Food. Also lined up are The Joint Chiropractic, State Farm Insurance and Wynn Nails & Hair. According to the City of Maricopa, Discount Tire will also be in the mix.

Sonoran Creek Marketplace is on the southwest corner of John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road, behind Culver’s restaurant. It is anticipated to create 282 jobs.

Thompson Thrift closed Friday on its purchase of about 20 acres at the site from ViaWest Group for $4.26 million. The current design creates 85,000 square feet of retail space.

Brake Masters will be in a 5,400-square-foot detached building behind Culver’s, while Discount Tire plans an 8,200-square-foot building north of Dutch Bros. Tenants have not been named for a fourth detached building on the site or other shopping spaces in the main building.

“This new shopping center is a boon for Maricopa,” said Nathan Steele, director of the City’s Economic & Community Development. “We are excited that our growing community will benefit from nearly 300 new jobs and an array of quality retail and dining options that this new center will bring.”

Groundbreaking is anticipated this year.

Based in Scottsdale, Discount Tire is the largest independent tire and wheel retailer in the world. Brake Masters in based in Tucson.

The Joint is a nationwide network of chiropractic offices and headquartered in Scottsdale. Jimmy John’s is a fast-growing sandwich franchise based in Illinois. Filiberto’s is a fast-food franchise with locations in three states.

Wynn Nails & Hair has a Maricopa location, sharing a building with Duncan and Wingstop. State Farm has two offices in Maricopa.
