It will be slow going on some city streets Monday and Tuesday as the city slurry seals roadways as part of its regular street-maintenance program.
The city has scheduled Bowlin Road between Porter to White and Parker roads; White and Parker Road from Farrell Road to Honeycutt Avenue; and Smith-Enke Road from Desert Greens to White and Parker Road for road work.
The streets will not be completely closed during the two days.
Follow these driving instructions when streets are sealed:
- Do not drive on streets recently treated and coned off.
- Slow down while passing through work zones adhering to traffic control signs and flaggers.
As asphalt ages, it deteriorates from the ultraviolet rays and from vehicles driving on the road. The slurry seal provides a wearing surface to increase the overall lifespan of the road; reducing cracking and pitting and increasing traction and smoothness.
The city conducts an annual preventive maintenance program including seal-coating streets.
