T-Mobile will build a new wireless communication facility as an addition to the existing facility at Copper Sky Rec Center at 44345 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The facility is on the park’s eastern border, just north of the baseball and softball diamonds.

In paperwork filed with the city, the company said, “T-Mobile is committed to improving coverage and expanding network capacity to meet customer demand throughout the City of Maricopa. T-Mobile is proposing a new wireless communication facility to be located on the Copper Sky Recreation Center Facility. The proposed WCF will provide residents, visitors and businesses with improved high quality reliable wireless service for both personal & business, in addition to enhancing emergency services in the area.”

T-Mobile is proposing to place six antennas and six radio modules on a new light pole at the baseball diamonds at Copper Sky. The new light pole will replace an existing pole south of the existing cell site.

The new facility for T-Mobile will be attached to the existing facilities for cellular carriers already located on site. T-Mobile’s building will also include a 25 by 14-foot equipment enclosure with a block wall that will match the existing wall. The building will hold two new equipment cabinets as well as a 211-gallon diesel generator mounted on a new concrete foundation.

The company said it will make every effort to keep the equipment as aesthetically unobtrusive as possible.

“The proposed pole-mounted equipment will be painted to match the pole to ensure minimal impact to nearby properties, and will comply with all local, state and federal laws & regulations,” the application stated.
