UPDATE Aug. 11, 2023, 1:35 p.m.: According to Electrical District No. 3, the outage was caused by a contactor with Cox Communications, who struck an underground powerline along West Smith-Enke Road near the Villages at Rancho El Dorado.

Majority of the affected residents have regained power.

 

ORIGINAL STORY Aug. 11, 2023, 12:40 p.m.: More than 3,100 Maricopa residents are without power this afternoon. 

According to Electrical District No. 3’s outage tracker, the blackout occurred at a substation near North Porter and West Honeycutt Roads. 

The cause of the outage is unknown. 

Maricopa residents on social media reported power outages in houses in Homestead and businesses on North John Wayne Parkway. 

Today, temperatures will reach a high of 107 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. 

ED3 could not immediately be reached for comment.
