Two men were arrested April 10 in connection with discovery of about $4,800 in suspected stolen and hidden property.

At about 12:45 p.m. Maricopa police arrived at West Paitilla Lane on a report of someone breaking into a residence.

Upon arrival, officers identified Terry Luttman, 43, trying to enter the home. Luttman told an officer he was visiting the home and gathering his belongings after being arrested two days prior.

However, Luttman told another officer that he pays $900 rent to live in the home, owned by Michael Guzman, 47.

Accompanied by MPD, Luttman found his bedroom door locked with a deadbolt. He claimed Guzman installed the lock.

Guzman was uncooperative with officers, so Luttman eventually called a locksmith.

Two hours later, Luttman gained access to the bedroom but he soon realized about $1,500 in tools, a $1,000 mattress, watches valued at $1,800 and his $500 washer-dryer set were missing.

Luttman looked around the house, police said.

The missing items were found in the attic, but Guzman claimed he “had no idea they were there,” according to the probable-cause statement.

At about 3:20, Guzman was arrested on theft and booked into Pinal County jail.

Later that night, officers contacted Luttman regarding his contradictory statements about his residency.

At about 8:30 p.m., Luttman was arrested on false reporting. Police said he tightened his arms, struggled and kicked an officer in the leg.

Luttman also was booked into Pinal County jail on counts of resisting arrest and false reporting.
