A woman, who was found passed out in her vehicle in a fast-food restaurant drive-through lane early Saturday morning, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to officers.

Rose M. Garcia was booked into Pinal County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence to the slightest degree, DUI (.08 or above), and possessing an open liquor container while driving.

At 2:04 a.m., Maricopa police were called to Jack in the Box, 20975 N. John Wayne Pkwy., on a report of a woman, later identified as Garcia, passed out in the driver’s seat of her vehicle, according to a probable-cause statement.

Employees reported they had tried to wake Garcia for about 10 minutes before calling the police.

Officers also had difficulty waking Garcia, finally forcing entry into the vehicle to roust her.  Officers reported seeing an empty shooter of Fireball whiskey behind the driver’s seat, and an opened White Claw alcoholic seltzer in the cupholder next to the driver’s seat.

According to Maricopa police, Garcia was escorted to a patrol vehicle, where officers obtained her identification. Officers reported Garcia’s eyes were bloodshot, her speech was slurred and she swayed while walking to the patrol vehicle. Officers reported a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath.

Garcia refused all field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest, the probable-cause statement said.
