It may be time to start thinking about dusting off your favorite pair of cowboy boots.

That’s because Maricopa’s city planners will formally showcase Duke’s Roadhouse to the Planning and Zoning Commission during its Feb. 26 meeting. The restaurant and bar is anticipated to be a future nightlife destination in the former A1 Pawn Shop on Maricopa and Edwards roads in the city’s Heritage District.

City Planner Derek Scheerer said the presentation will simply encompass a review of the plans already submitted to the city in preparation for issuing a development review permit.

Although developers received a demolition permit in November, a development review is required to ensure intended construction meets city code requirements.

In August, InMaricopa highlighted some of the plans and artwork to be featured in the presentation, which will include a review of the site, floor, landscape, photometric and elevation plans. This included information that the 7,800-square-foot venue will include an enclosed front canopy, outdoor patio seating, a large bar and dance floor.

Any questions or comments about the development of Duke’s Roadhouse can be sent to Scheerer at 520-316-6980 or [email protected].
