Burglary suspects apprehended

On June 1, at 5:15 p.m., city of Maricopa police responded to the 17000 block of Smith Drive on a burglary in progress complaint.

A witness stated that he observed three male subjects climb over a neighbor’s wall and forcibly gain entry to their residence. The witness was able to maintain visual contact with the suspects prior to police arrival at the scene. During the course of the investigation, the witness was able to describe the suspects and also point out an area where one of the suspects was last seen.

One suspect, 18-year-old Christopher Cruz of Maricopa, was located and apprehended with assistance from the witness.

Shortly after the first suspect was caught, the other two suspects were spotted by the witness. The subjects, 18-year-old Coreno Griffin of Arizona City and a 15-year-old juvenile, were apprehended in the 46000 block of Keller Drive.

Cruz and Griffin were transported and booked into the Pinal County Jail for burglary and criminal damage to property. The 15-year-old juvenile was released to his parents pending charges.
