4 Casa Grande restaurants cited

The Pinal County Health department inspected 15 Casa Grande eateries in November, handing out four less-than-perfect scores.

Silver Oak Restaurant, 1250 W. Maricopa Highway, was scored lowest, receiving an “N” or needs improvement. Violations included storing expired foods and hazardous foods not being stored at the proper temperature.

While Silver Oaks was hit hardest by inspectors, Borderline Café at 109 E. Second St., Bedillion’s Restaurant at 800 N. Park Drive and Little Caesars Pizza at 31 N. Pinal St. also received imperfect scores.

Borderline was cited for not putting expiration dates on food products; Bedillion’s was written up for employees not wearing gloves and Caesars was dinged for employees not wearing hair nets.

For the violations, all received scores of “S” or satisfactory.

Health inspectors conduct random inspections aimed at ensuring all proper steps are taken to maintain consumer safety, Pinal County officials said. To that end, the department can issue violations that are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations must be fixed within 10 days and affect a location’s score. Non-critical violations must be fixed within 90 days.

Grades are based on the number of violations, with an “E” for excellent being the highest possible score. Other scores are: “S” for satisfactory, “U” for unacceptable and “N” for needs improvement.

Casa Grande eateries with perfect scores were Church’s Chicken, 1233 E. Florence Blvd.; Dairy Queen, 2234 E. Florence Blvd.; In-N-Out Burger, 873 N. Promenade Pkwy.; Carl’s Jr, 1715 E. Florence Blvd.; Papa Johns, 1275 E. Florence Blvd.; Pirate’s Fish and Chips, 818 N. Pinal Ave.; JB’s Restaurant, 1322 E. Florence Blvd.; Wendy’s, 2300 E. Tanger Dr.; Los Hermanos Mexican Food, 1328 E. Florence Blvd.; Mi Amigo Ricardo’s, 821 E. Florence Blvd.; and Creative Café, 1420 N. Trekell Rd.
