AmTrust Bank opened its doors for business in Maricopa at 9 a.m. Monday, and by the end of the day had opened several checking accounts for new customers.

David Rosenau, sales manager at the branch at 20750 N. John Wayne Parkway, said he considered the turnout to be successful. Standard hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

During those hours patrons can sign up for and use customized checking, investment and small business services. In addition, the branch offers insurance with coverage for everything from autos and homes to protection for small businesses.

Although its doors are open, the branch has yet to celebrate a grand opening, complete with a ribbon cutting and a prize give-away from 10 a.m. to noon July 9. Dignitaries will include the mayor of Maricopa and representatives from the corporate location in Cleveland.

Customers can forget about showing up to win something as common as a waffle iron or a toaster, however. Instead, AmTrust will be awarding a Honda Civic Hybrid, a year’s worth of free gas and a landscaping package.

AmTrust Bank was founded in 1889 in Ohio and has since grown into a nationally recognized leader in retail banking, with 70 branch offices in Florida, Ohio and Arizona.
