The arraignment of a 30-year-old man shot by a Maricopa police officer on Jan. 21 has been set for Friday at the Pinal County Superior Courthouse in Florence.

Lee Patrick Hafer of Maricopa is charged on suspicion of disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, fleeing from law enforcement and aggravated assault.

Hafer is in Pinal County jail. His bond has been set at $250,000.

Hafer’s arraignment Friday is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. before Judge Dwight Callahan.

Officer Chris Evans of the Maricopa Police Department shot Hafer following a police pursuit in Maricopa, according to authorities. Officer Carrick Cook of the Arizona Department of Public Safety previously told InMaricop.com Hafer was armed during the confrontation on Honeycutt Road between White and Parker and Porter roads.

DPS handled the investigation of the shooting.

Cook said Hafer got out of his white Ford Mustang with a gun pointed to his head and then pointed the gun back and forth from Evans to his own head.

The officer fired his weapon when Hafer began walking toward him, Cook said. Hafer was struck once in the shoulder area and was taken to the hospital.

A grand jury decided last week there was sufficient evidence to indict Hafer.

The Pinal County Superior Courthouse is at 971 N. Jason Lopez Circle.
