Authorities have released the name of a 34-year-old man who barricaded himself inside a Rancho El Dorado residence Thursday evening during a nearly five-hour standoff between police and a sheriff’s department SWAT team.

Ryan C. Schwab was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and domestic violence.

Police originally were called to a domestic disturbance at a home on the 43000 block of Courtney Drive around 5 p.m.

Maricopa Police spokesman Ricky Alvarado said last week the man had injured his girlfriend in the neck, but he would not say how. Police have responded to the residence for other incidents in the past, Alvarado said.

On Thursday evening, Pinal County Sheriff’s SWAT negotiators spoke with Schwab on his cellphone. He came out of the residence around 9:45 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident.

InMaricopa.com has requested police reports on the incident. According to an online court records search, Schwab also faces an assault charge in a case filed earlier this month in Maricopa’s municipal court.
