Maricopans and former Maricopans are busy on college football fields around the country. Some are remembered for their gridiron days at Maricopa High School while others played for schools in the Valley.

Jacob Cowing is a freshman at University of Texas at El Paso, where he is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver. An MHS graduate, he has three receptions, averaging 19.67 yards.

Sam Aviles, who also played for MHS, is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior at Missouri Western State University, where he is a kicker. He is 20-for-20 in point-after-touchdown kicks and is averaging 58 yards per kickoff.

Tylen Coleman, an MHS graduate, is a 6-foot-0, 235-pound freshman at Western New Mexico University. He has eight tackles and a kick return.

Isaiah Hawkins, an MHS graduate, is a 5-foot-7, 160-pound freshman at Crown College in Minnesota, where he has recorded four tackles.

Thomas “Trey” Keel, an MHS graduate is also a freshman at WNMU, listed as 6-foot-3, 320 pounds. He has recorded a tackle.

Mac Rothschild-Potterf, a Desert Vista graduate, is a sophomore at WNMU as a 6-foot-2, 285 pound lineman. He has recorded a tackle.

Jake Meyers, an MHS graduate, is a freshman at Southwestern Community College as a 6-foot-2, 240-pound lineman. He has a tackle.

Stefon Nelson, an MHS graduate, is a freshman at South Dakota School of Mines. He is listed as 5-foot-10, 175 pounds.

Elrey Brooks III, a graduate of Casteel, is also a freshman at SDSM, listed as 5-foot-8, 165 pounds.

DeShaun Felder, a graduate of Mountain Pointe, is a senior at Arizona Christian University. He is 6-foot-5, 283 pounds.

Bakari Jackson, an MHS graduate, is a 6-foot-0, 230-pound freshman linebacker at Southwestern College in Kansas.
