The Maricopa Police Department arrested a person Friday morning who may be an “investigative lead” into the May 30 Circle K robbery, said Officer Ricardo Alvarado, MPD public information officer.

Alvarado said the person currently is being held in custody on warrants unrelated to the robbery, but officers are investigating whether the person could become a suspect in the robbery.

The robbery occurred when a man, described as 6 feet and weighing between 165 to 175 pounds, entered the Circle K at the store’s 19864 N. John Wayne Parkway location about 3 a.m.

Dressed in a dark, hooded sweatshirt, a tan baseball cap with a tan bill and gray-blue, stone-washed jeans, green, cutoff shorts (possibly sweatpants) over the jeans and black work shoes, the man claimed he had a weapon and demanded cash, alcohol and cigarettes. No weapon was displayed.

The robber then left the store on foot through the rear door and headed south.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call MPD at 520-316-6800 or MPD dispatch at 520-866-5111. Anonymous tips can be left on the MPD Silent Witness/Tip Hotline at 520-316-6900.
