The city of Maricopa finished the fiscal year on a strong note, issuing 46 single-family housing permits.
That number represents an increase of 24 permits over last month, but was 57 fewer than were issued in June 2008.
The city bases a portion of its budget on the number of permits issued in a fiscal year, which runs from July 1 to June 30.
For the 2008-2009 fiscal year the city averaged 33.5 permits per month. During the previous fiscal year (2007-2008) that number was 133 permits per month.
For the new fiscal year that started on July 1 the city is basing its budget on an estimated 30 permits a month. Since January of this calendar year the city has averaged 26 permits per month.
