Maricopans will have to find a new place to recycle old cans and dump bulk trash.

The Waste & Recycling Center at 46250 W. McDavid Road will close Aug. 12, according to a news release from the city. The center will continue to operate Saturdays from 6 a.m. to noon until its closure.

The facility will be closed because city leaders believe “waste disposal needs can be better served via other existing public and private venues,” according to the city.

Starting Aug. 13, residents can drop off their recyclables at Recycle Today Maricopa, 45030 W. Edwards Cir.

Residents can drop off bulk trash at Waste Management of Arizona’s Butterfield Landfill at 40404 99th Ave. or Weinberger Waste Rainbow Valley Landfill at 39500 99th Ave. Both landfills are in Mobile, about 14 miles west of Maricopa.
