A long-awaited sit-down restaurant finally is set to debut to Maricopa residents.

After a series of delays, Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers opens on March 14, according to the company.

The restaurant, in the Sonoran Creek shopping center near John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road, experienced several delays in its construction and opening. The restaurant originally was scheduled to start serving its array of gourmet burgers in summer 2022 but the date was pushed to November and then again to this spring.

Tracy Frazier, chief operating officer of the Scottsdale-based company, could not be reached for comment on the opening. However, said he had been looking at Maricopa for some time when expansion plans were announced in 2021.

“The demographics really support a location there,” Frazier said at the time. “We’ve looked at Maricopa a handful of times in the past few years. That market is dramatically underserved for sit-down restaurants.”

At the time, City Manager Rick Horst said bringing Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers to Maricopa demonstrated a step forward in the city’s growth.

“It means we are maturing as a city and the market is beginning to realize the opportunities that exist here in Maricopa,” he said in 2021. “The day will come when we will not have to woo such entities…they will just come. We are excited for this development and welcome them to Maricopa. Opening night will be a blast.”

The restaurant is to feature a dressed-up sports-bar menu, featuring gourmet burgers, sliders and sandwiches, as well as more than 150 beers served at its 50-foot bar.

Cold Beer & Cheeseburgers, 20350 W. John Wayne Pkwy., Suite 160, has yet to announce its hours and grand-opening plans.
