Council approves designated dove hunting areas

Dove hunting is an activity firmly entrenched in Maricopa’s history (see related story).

Recently the Maricopa City Council decided to continue this sport with their approval of the hunting map for the city of Maricopa.

The map designates specific areas in which residents and visitors can hunt dove in and around Maricopa. Areas are typically farmland and other undeveloped lands in the city limits.

Small fowl or dove hunting season is Sept. 1-15 and Nov. 21 until Jan. 1.
