Computer store owner happy with new location

Steve Sanders, owner of Data Doctors in Maricopa, said foot traffic at his store has increased about 50 percent since he moved in mid December from Cobblestone Fiesta near Ace Hardware to a new store front next to Bashas’.

Though his new location is 200 square feet smaller than the former one, Sanders said he is happy because “the visibility here is so much better for me.”

The store, which opened in Maricopa five years ago, repairs computer hardware, fixes problems with Windows and Mac software, kills viruses and builds custom computers.

The work can either be done at the store or on site at a home or business.

Sanders, who owns a second Data Doctors in Chandler, has one full-time and one part-time employee in Maricopa. The company is headquartered in Tempe and has locations in about a dozen states.

Sanders said his background is in networking multiple locations. He formerly worked at WebMD, where he networked doctors’ offices. He is now doing some work for a company that owns several dry cleaners and wants all the stores on a single network.

He said when a customer comes into Data Doctors for a custom-built machine, he or she is usually looking for extra memory, additional hard drive space or multiple hard drives.
