Barnett Management has a whopper of an announcement.

The franchise owner behind Maricopa’s Burger King and Slim Chickens restaurants said it will debut its second Burger King on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway at the end of 2024.

“We have been dealing with some delays,” said franchise executive Lucas Barnett. “But we are excited to get that project rolling.”

Barnett could not confirm a construction timeline for the location.

The franchisee planned to break ground late last year but construction costs and labor issues caused delays. Barnett said it struggled to get necessary electrical equipment, causing further delays.

The city’s first Burger King opened near John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road in 2018. Barnett announced its second location in 2021.

Burger King corporate recently announced plans to shutter as many as 400 underperforming restaurants around the country by year’s end as part of its focus on rebranding and modernizing its stores.

However, Barnett did not see the closures affecting its Maricopa locations.

“These were mainly lower volume stores,” he said. “There is nothing to worry about with our Burger Kings as we remain committed to growing and investing in the Arizona market.”
