A Discount Tire store is currently slated to open in Maricopa in February 2022, according to the company. The City’s Planning & Zoning Commission approved the site plan at its Monday meeting.

The proposed 8,192-square-foot building is part of Sonoran Creek Marketplace, which is vacant land. The Discount Tire site is planned directly north of Dutch Bros along John Wayne Parkway.

“This is a great addition to Maricopa,” Commission Chair Linda Huggins said.

The company sells and installs tires and wheels.

Approval of the site plan included landscape, photometric and elevation plans. It came with 19 standard conditions. The approval was unanimous by the board, with met at Copper Sky Multigeneration Complex.

The site is 1.15 acres and is the first building in the Sonoran Creek Marketplace to get P&Z plan approval. According to city staff, “The elevations and color combinations appear well integrated and complementary.”

The plan provided 45 parking spaces, exceeding the minimum requirement of 30. It also exceeds the minimum in landscaping plants.

The opening date is subject to change.

Other businesses expected to open in the future marketplace include Sprouts, Jimmy John’s and Brake Masters.
