Eight new TV channels coming to Orbitel customers

Orbitel Communications is adding eight new cable television channels on October 15, and all package rates remain the same. “This increases our total cable TV offerings to over 200 entertainment channels,” said Keith Kirkman, President of Orbitel Communications.

New to the Orbitel system will be the NFL Network, KAZT (AZ-TV), the Government Information Channel, C-SPAN 2, C-SPAN 3, Fox College Sports Atlantic, Fox College Sports Central and Fox College Sports Pacific.

In the Basic service, which most customers have through their homeowner associations, Orbitel will be replacing the Product Information Network (PIN), currently on Channel 18, with KAZT (AZ-TV), home of the NHL Phoenix Coyotes as well as great classic TV programming. In addition, VH1, which is currently on channel 20, will be moved to channel 64 in the expanded level of programming to make room for the Government Information Channel. This new service will provide local community information. It will originate from the new City Hall facilities, and the City of Maricopa will control its programming.

The Expanded level of service will see seven channel additions. VH1 will move from Basic channel 20 to channel 64. Bravo, the History Channel and Home and Garden TV (HGTV) will be moved from the Digital level of service to Expanded. These services will now be seen on channels 65, 66 and 67 respectively. Orbitel will be adding C-SPAN 2 and C-SPAN 3 to channels 68 and 69. C-SPAN 2 produces Book TV and was the service that brought the C-SPAN bus tour to Maricopa this past spring (see related story). The NFL Network will be added to Orbitel channel 70.

In the Digital level of programming, Fox College Sports Atlantic, Central and Pacific will be added on Channels 147, 148 and 149.

“We are very pleased with the variety of programming that will be added,” said Kirkman. “We’re adding more local, regional and national programming that includes sports, information, government, education and family entertainment. We continue to respond to our customers’ requests for more channels by making significant dollar investments in our facilities.”
