The Maricopa High School girls’ volleyball team could not hold off second place Fountain Hills as the Falcons took a 25-10, 25-8, 25-9 win Thursday night on Maricopa’s home court.

Maricopa falls to an overall record of 3-10 and 2-8 in the southern region as Fountain Hills improves to 11-2 overall, 8-2 in regional play.

Fountain Hills jumped out to an early lead in the first game and never looked back. Reeling in six straight service points, the Falcons were able to capitalize on strong serving and Rams hitting errors to quickly extend their lead.

Despite a combined 13 service aces by Tabitha Hoctor and Arielle Fife, the Rams found it difficult to score offensively all night long. Adding only two additional points while on serve, the bulk of the Rams’ points were scored due to unforced errors on the part of the Falcons.

Next on the schedule for Maricopa is a road game at undefeated Safford High School on Tuesday, Oct. 21, and a home match against winless Santa Cruz High School on Thursday, Oct.23.
