So far, Home Depot is measuring up to its goals for a fall opening.

Crews were seen Monday morning laying foundation and constructing a wall for the new home improvement store on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Stonegate Road.

Last month, the city issued multiple commercial permits to Home Depot, paving the way for construction to begin. Crews began moving ground for storm water installation at the time, but more obvious work could be seen in recent weeks.

In November, company spokesperson Evelyn Fornes told InMaricopa the retailer planned on an opening in September or October this year.

This echoes City Manager Rick Horst’s comments last month during an economic forum hosted by the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce. He anticipated construction to wrap up in September.
