Maricopa Domestic Water Improvement District signed an agreement with the city of Maricopa to move into a new office while a larger water tower is built over the land the old office occupied.

The office relocated about two weeks ago from a small, white trailer on West Garvey Avenue to 19756 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite 109, on the corner of West Garvey Avenue.

The agreement with the city will last for five years. Joe Hoover, vice chairman of the district’s board, said the water district plans to build an office on the property again once the five-year deal has ended.

The new 165,000-gallon water tank will cost $810,000.

The plans for the tank have been submitted to the state for approval. The costs are projected to be covered by a grant and the city. If the grant is not approved, there is a 10-year agreement to reimburse the city for expenses.

“The bottom line for all of the improvements is to provide better service to all of our customers,” Hoover said.
