Police focus on Rancho vehicle burglaries

A string of vehicle burglaries within the Rancho El Dorado neighborhood this month has caused police to put more focus on the subdivision.

At least eight burglaries have taken place within the neighborhood since Oct. 1, according to the Maricopa Police Department.

Department spokesman Ricky Alvarado said each case has involved unlocked vehicles.

“This is a crime of opportunity,” Alvarado said.

Thursday evening, officers increased their presence within the neighborhood.

Department officials analyze crime data to find trends and focus officers’ missions in an effort to prevent future crime.
