Great Western Bank robbed, female sought

Maricopa Police are seeking a female suspect in connection with a 9:30 a.m. robbery Tuesday at Great Western Bank on Garvey Road in the Maricopa Manor Business Center.

The suspect is a black woman, average height with corn rows in her hair, wearing a baseball cap, glasses, a red shirt and blue jean-style shorts, said Officer Ricardo Alvarado, police spokesman.

Though cash was reported stolen, he did not know the amount and could not confirm whether a weapon was used during the robbery.

No one was injured and the police were alerted by the bank’s silent alarm, he said.

Alvarado said the suspect may be driving a 2007 gray and white Town and Country minivan. Information about the suspect was sent to surrounding law enforcement agencies and businesses in the area were alerted, he said.

The FBI is interviewing witnesses at the scene.

“They’re here and we’re working together and going forward with the investigation,”Alvarado said.
