Traffic detail nets 33 citations

Thirty-three traffic citations were issued Sunday within approximately two hours by the Maricopa Police Department, according to the daily crime list released by the MPD.

Of those stops, 14 of them were on some part of John Wayne Parkway, generally near Cobblestone Farm Road, 11 were at various points on Rancho El Dorado and eight were on Honeycutt Road.

The stops were part of a zero-tolerance, targeted enforcement action made possible by a $2,000 grant from the Governors’ Office of Highway Safety the MPD received in August. The grant is designed to fund four-to-six hour shifts during which officers target specific areas for speeding motorists.
