MWIB Mothers & Daughters Fashion Show celebrates Mother’s Day

Mothers, daughters, grandmothers (one with 11 grandchildren) and even great-grandmothers attended the Maricopa Women in Business (MWIB) Mothers & Daughters Fashion Show and luncheon Saturday at Province Town Center.

The event was the second one for the group of local businesswomen, who are a non-profit community support and service organization. Their current president is Kristen Carr.

Following a buffet luncheon, catered by MWIB member and personal chef Marsha Peters, young ladies of varying ages from Desert Sun Performing Arts entertained guests with several dance numbers.

Ceylan Gentilella, another MWIB member and owner of the dance studio, directed the dancers, who included:

Maricopa Black Belt Academy students also demonstrated their skills. Then students pretended to be asleep in a skit where an evil personage came to attack; naturally, their leaders defeated the evil one.

At the end of the Mother’s Day Fashion Show MWIB member Courtny Tyler announced that the group was able to provide two $1,000 scholarship to senior girls at Maricopa High School this year. The fashion show proceeds were dedicated to providing scholarship funding.
