Pima Butte Elementary update, travel approvals on school board’s agenda

Maricopa Unified School District’s governing board will meet Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at the district office administration building, 44150 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Hwy.

In addition to approving vouchers and personnel changes, board members will hear an update on Pima Butte Elementary School from its principal, Korrin Ledbetter.

Discussions are also scheduled regarding alternative communication and lower level football programs.

Business Director Aron Rausch will provide a monthly financial report.

The first reading of staff conflict of interest (Policy GBEAA) will be open for discussion and its final reading will go to the board for approval.

Other agenda items: discussion of a joint meeting with the city of Maricopa on Dec. 9, plus approvals of a student’s early graduation request, proposals for online Distance Learning and insurance broker services, and the guaranteed maximum price for Phase II of the Performing Arts Center.

The board will be asked to approve travel for 12 Maricopa High School students to attend the annual student council state convention at Blue Ridge High School in Pinetop in February. Nine welding program students from the high school are seeking approval to attend a leadership development camp in Williams this weekend.

The regularly scheduled Dec.15 meeting has been moved to Tuesday, Dec. 14. New school board members will be sworn in at that time.
