Santa Claus is coming to town! You can have your photo taken with Old Saint Nick at Pima Butte Elementary School’s fundraiser on Wednesday, December 7. Maricopa’s Native New Yorker is lending a helping hand to the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) by donating a portion of the proceeds taken in from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. that day.

Pima Butte staff members will be serving food from 5 – 9 p.m. During that same time period, you can have your photo taken with Santa for only $2. Print the coupon below to use on Wednesday night:

If you purchased holiday items from one of the Pima Butte Elementary students, you really helped the school. Maricopa residents as well as the students’ friends and families purchased enough catalog items to raise $20,000. One half of that amount goes directly to Pima Butte.

Sales began with a fund raising assembly on October 26 (see related story). Pima Butte Mustangs sold from three QSP / Reader’s Digest catalogs, which featured candy, home décor items, candles, gift wrap and beauty items. Top selling students also won individual prizes like radios, CD players, pens, cameras and candy.

Tracy Cook‘s fifth graders sold the most in grades 4 – 6, raising over $1,700. Kelly Hier‘s first and second graders sold $1,200 worth of goods for the winning spot in the K- 3 competition. Fat Daddy’s Pizza donated over $60 worth of pizza to reward these two winning classes.

The monies raised through this fundraiser, chaired by Gina Segarra, will be used to provide overhead projectors and listening centers for each teacher at the school. An additional project will be lining the halls with bulletin boards in order to display students’ work without putting hundreds of holes in the school’s walls.

Kerry Fulton, speaking on behalf of the Pima Butte PTO, stated, “We want to thank the community for their participation and support of this fundraiser. We are very excited about what this will mean to our children at Pima Butte.”

The Pima Butte PTO, which sponsored the fundraiser, now has enough money to fund the overheads, listening centers and bulletin boards. They even have enough funds for other projects submitted to them by Principal Janelle Lowey and the Pima Butte staff.
