School board meetings move back to high school

Does the Maricopa Unified School District need a night security guard? That question is one of several the Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board will attempt to answer at this Wednesday’s meeting.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m.with a study session on a school board retreat and presentations by principals on their school improvement plans.

The regular session starts at 6 p.m. with topics that include approving several new positions, attempting to decide on a voluntary rooftop fee for the Eagle Shadows development and a decision on whether or not to adopt two new curriculum formats.

However, the biggest announcement may be where the meeting will take place.

The school board meetings for the past several months, while the high school underwent renovations, have been held at Pima Butte Elementary School.

Although those renovations are not complete, the meetings will be returning to the high school this week.
