Unique hair boutique opens in Maricopa

Patricia King, founder of religious-based worldwide multimedia production company, XPmedia, has opened a hair salon in Maricopa. Her new venture is called Lavida Hair Boutique.

Lavida means “The Life” in Spanish, and King said with the interior design of the shop she was attempting to create a European feel.

The four hair and makeup artists who call the new boutique home have diverse backgrounds that include styling for both the runway and television screen.

“These artists will be able to create unique styles for Maricopa residents that make them feel valuable and special,” King said. “I just love this city and felt this would be a great way to give back.”

The lead stylist and store manager is Maricopa resident Greg McGrath. He has worked in the hair industry for 20 years and for the past three years has served as King’s personal stylist.

He received his training at the Vidal Salon in Los Angeles and returns to San Francisco once a month to learn the latest techniques.

“In this industry, it is not about how long you have been cutting hair but the quality of training you have,” McGrath said.

King added stylish haircuts aren’t the only goal of the boutique. “We hope to create a friendly atmosphere in this shop, a place people enjoy visiting and will tell their friends about.”

In addition to servicing the citizens of Maricopa, King will utilize the stylists at the boutique to do makeup and hair for those who take part in her film company’s productions at XPmedia’s new studios on West Hathaway Avenue, which were just approved for construction. In the future, King said she plans to expand the shop into a full-service day spa offering massages, manicures, pedicures and other treatments.
