A 41-year-old woman already facing DUI charges was cited Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of shoplifting a $16.27 bottle of Canadian Mist whiskey from Maricopa’s Walmart Supercenter.

The woman had a warrant for failing to appear in Maricopa’s municipal court for DUI and related charges. She was booked into Pinal County Jail Wednesday for the failure to appear and also was issued a citation for shoplifting.

Walmart security staff witnessed the woman take the bottle from the sales rack and place it in her backpack, according to a probable cause statement. She then allegedly exited the store and was detained.

The woman admitted to concealing the bottle, according to the court document. The document also states the woman said “she came to Walmart to steal the bottle of liquor for a friend who she would not reveal any names.”

Maricopa’s Walmart Supercenter is at 41650 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
