Delia Carlyle and Anthony Narcia Sr. were elected Saturday to the Ak-Chin Indian Community Tribal Council. Both will serve three-year terms and join Louis Manuel Jr., Terry Enos and William Antone on the council.

Carlyle is a nine-year veteran on the council and has also served as both chairwoman and vice-chairwoman. She strongly believes in the path the Community is headed with the expansion of economic development projects and job creation for Community members.

Carlyle said it is important to see an updated draft of a Community Constitution and said it is significant to the future of the Community.

Narcia last served on council two years ago and his said his primary objective is to “build a brighter tomorrow.” His focus will be safeguarding tribal financial accountability and ensuring collaboration to deliver programs and services to Community members. Narcia said having a dynamic council that works together is key to the success for the Community.

Both Carlyle and Narcia plan to encourage and increase Community participation in planning for the Community.

The swearing-in ceremony for both council members will be held on Wednesday; the chairman and vice-chairman positions will be announced then.
