CD1 primary still tossup between Kiehne, Tobin

With the clock ticking toward the start of early voting for the general election, it’s still unclear which Republican will be on the ballot for the U.S. Congressional District 1 seat.

After a week – and almost 52,000 votes – entrepreneur Gary Kiehne and Speaker of the House of Representative Andy Tobin are separated by just 324 votes. About 800 ballots are still uncounted.

If the final margin is within 200 votes, an automatic recount will take place.

Rep. Adam Kwasman finished third, more than 3,000 votes back.

The winner of the hotly contested Republican primary will face incumbent Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick in Nov. 4 general election.
