Maricopa Mayor Christian Price is scheduled to proclaim October Domestic Violence Awareness month during Tuesday's 7 p.m. city council meeting.
Also on Tuesday, council member will consider:
- Appointing two new members to the Heritage District Advisory Committee and one new member to the Board of Adjustment.
- Approving a new Bicycle Donation Program to repair and redistribute unclaimed bicycles recovered by the Maricopa Police Department.
- Applying for the Arizona Commerce Authority’s 2013 Rural Economic Development Grant Program. If awarded the grant, which would be up to $100,000 with no match required, the city will use the funds to extend Edison Road into the Estrella Gin property, the city’s 70-acre planned business center located near the Acacia Crossings subdivision.
A presentation on the International Code Council’s 2012 building codes will be given, followed by a presentation on the manual on uniform traffic control devices, the traffic barricade manual and adding a fee schedule to the traffic chapter of the city code.
During the council’s 6 p.m. work session there will be presentations on:
- City staff efforts to meet the goals established by the city’s Economic Development Strategic Plan.
- Goals, visions and accomplishments by the Maricopa Unified School District by Superintendent Steve Chestnut.
Both meetings take place at the MUSD administrative building at 44150 W. Maricopa Casa-Grande Highway.
