The Maricopa city council will consider Tuesday approving a three-year employment agreement with Gregory Rose for the position of city manager.

Rose was one of three finalists in a nationwide search for the position. He is a former city administrator for Hyattsville, Md., and a former city manager for the City of North Las Vegas, Nev. Rose is the principal agent for Rose and Associates, LLC, a Dallas-based consulting firm that serves local governments, private businesses and nonprofits.

If the agreement is approved as written, Rose will be paid a base salary of $157,000 during his first year.  He’ll also receive insurance benefits like other full-time city employees.

Rose would start Feb. 3.

Other finalists for the position were Sandi Wilson, deputy county manager for Maricopa County, and Trisha Sorensen, who is currently serving as Maricopa’s interim city manager.

Sorensen stepped into the interim role after former City Manager Brenda Fischer left for Glendale’s city manager position in July.

Tuesday’s city council meeting is set for 7 p.m. at City Hall on White and Parker Road, just north of Bowlin Road.
