Mayor Christian Price has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2014 Community and Economic Development Steering Committee for the second consecutive year.

The committee has the lead responsibility for developing the league’s federal policy positions on issues involving community and economic development, housing, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness.

“By serving on committees in NLC and other key organizations I, along with members of our city council, have an opportunity to advocate for and create both a regional and national awareness of Maricopa,” Price said in a press release. “The National League of Cities is an important voice for municipalities throughout the country and I am honored to be reappointed to the Community and Economic Development Steering Committee.

This past year, Price was appointed as chairman of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council’s Ambassador Committee. GPEC is a regional economic development group

“We are excited to learn of Mayor Price’s reappointment to the National League of Cities Community and Economic Development Steering Committee,’ said GPEC President and CEO Barry Broome. “The city of Maricopa is a young community with tremendous economic growth potential. Any opportunity to have a voice at the national level is a success for the entire region.’

Price also serves on the Maricopa Association of Governments Economic Development Committee.
