Business is booming and dirt is moving in town. A slate of new fast-food restaurants will open within the next couple of months.

Several more fast-food eateries expressed interest in coming to Maricopa like Angie’s Lobster Restaurant, a second Taco Bell and another Dutch Bros Coffee. However, four drive-thru joints’ openings are imminent.

InMaricopa asked our readers which of the four fast-food options whets their appetite the most in last week’s informal poll. Nearly 750 people responded.

A new fried chicken joint sparked the public’s attention and gathered nearly half of the total votes.

The Arkansas-based fast-food fried chicken restaurant Slim Chickens serves tenders, wings and sandwiches paired with plenty of sauces. It garnered 45% of votes in our weekly poll.

Slim’s is scheduled to open Nov. 6.

“I love chicken and my daughter got a job there, so I’ll be a fan and a patron,” said reader Sam Stranford.

“We couldn’t be more excited as we anticipate our introduction of Slim Chickens to Maricopa to be a very busy, positive, high-energy occasion,” AZ Slims Operations Manager Colin Clingan said earlier this month.

The second- and third-most favored new flavors will come to the same plaza as Slim Chickens. Both plan to serve sweet treats to the community.

One in 4 readers were most excited about Cold Stone Creamery, while Bosa Donuts claimed 18% of votes.

Carl’s Jr., which is making a comeback after it closed its first Maricopa location in 2018, earned the fewest votes. A mere 13% of readers chose this restaurant.

Carl’s Jr. is slated to open next year.
