A Maricopa man died Monday afternoon after the motorcycle he was driving ran off State Route 84.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the single-vehicle accident occurred at 12:53 p.m. north of the Interstate 8 junction. Cappis, who was wearing a helmet, was heading east on SR 84 when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve.
He entered the opposing lane of traffic and then apparently over-corrected and went off the roadway and down an embankment and into a wash.
Cappis died at the scene from his injuries, according to DPS.
