An art-filled weekend across the city ended Monday morning with two more wild horses moving into Heritage Park. One of the works is visible alongside Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. “Gila River Runner,” by Bonnie del Turro, is visible just south of the Silver Horizon Railcar.

Just northwest stands “Traversing Time,” by Kristal C. Coles. This horse is next to the city’s new Maricopa Museum and Visitor Center, which opens this Saturday.

The horse artwork is part of an arts initiative by City Manager Rick Horst that was announced March 18, 2021.

The pieces were unveiled in February, along with 7 others, which are still in the process of being installed.

These were not the only pieces of art installed this week, as the city announced its second project, the decorated traffic-signal boxes.
